FINALLY!!!

Every Sunday I go to postsecret.com. I saw this post card and I can totally relate to how this person feels!!! At least I'm not the only one...

It really bothered me when my friends would complain about their jobs. I DO NOT want to hear about how you're tired of working or how much you hate your job. You should be THANKFUL you have a paying job! Not everyone has that luxury! Especially in this economy.

I wouldn't say I resented every one of my friends that found jobs after graduation. It was only the people who didn't have to work hard for it...

But after 429 days of being unemployed and working really hard to find a job, I can happily say...I'M EMPLOYED!!! YAY! It's finally my time!!! Stay tuned for updates...I start tomorrow!

And...don't take your job for granted!!!

The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud

I just finished reading The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud and I LOVED it! I can't wait to see the movie this weekend. However, just by watching the previews, I can tell the movie is going to be totally different from the book. Bums me out...just a little.

Anyways, this book is not what I expected at all. There is a twist in the book that makes the story interesting and unusual. I have never read a love story like this. I used to think cemeteries were creepy, but after reading this book, I have a new outlook.
This is a MUST read!

SYNOPSIS

Into a snug New England fishing village. Charlie St. Cloud tends the lawns and monuments of an ancient cemetery where his younger brother, Sam, is buried. After surviving the car accident that claimed his brother's life, Charlie is graced with an extraordinary gift: He can see, talk to, and even play catch with Sam's spirit. Into this magical world comes Tess Carroll, a captivating woman training for a solo sailing trip around the globe. Fate steers her boat into a treacherous storm that propels her into Charlie's life. Their beautiful and uncommon connection leads to a race against time and a choice between death and life, between the past and the future, between holding on and letting go - and the discovery that miracles can happen if we simply open our hearts.

Go Ask Alice

I've been wanting to read this book for awhile now and since Kiersten just read it, I borrowed it. The book is based on the actual diary of a fifteen-year-old drug user in the 1960's.

It's shocking to see how the other kids in her school pressured her to do drugs which ended up changing her life. This book is a must read!

The title "Go Ask Alice" was taken from the song "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane (one of my all-time favorite songs).

I was listening to my ipod while reading the last few pages of the book. When I read the very last page, I realized White Rabbit was playing. WEIRD!!!

"One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall"
White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane

SYNOPSIS

It started when she was served a soft drink with LSD in a dangerous party game. Within months, she was hooked, trapped in a downward spiral that took her from her comfortable home and loving family to the mean streets of an unforgiving city. It was a journey that would rob her of her innocence, her youth - and ultimately her life.

I am Ozzy

I always love a good rock and roll autobiography! When I heard Ozzy wrote a book I knew I had to read it. I just finished it and its one of my favorite rock autobiographies. My favorite is still The Dirt by Motley Crue (I don't think any rock autobiography can top it).

I'm a fan of Ozzy's music and one of my favorite reality t.v. shows is The Osbournes...go figure. In this book I learned a lot about Ozzy I didn't know. He's a joker and loves to play pranks on people, he was wasted on booze and pills the entire time he was filmed for his reality show, he worked in a slaughter house before creating Black Sabbath and he was the one who made Sharon get a colonoscopy because he had to, and in the end, Ozzy was cancer free and Sharon was not.

This book was an amazing and funny read. I definitely recommend it! I can't wait for the movie! It's rumored that Colin Farrell will play Ozzy...I don't know if I like the casting choice. I think an unknown actor might be a better choice...but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

SYNOPSIS

"They've said some crazy things about me over the years. I mean, okay: 'He bit the head off a bat.' Yes. 'He bit the head off a dove.' Yes. But then you hear things like, 'Ozzy went to the show last night, but he wouldn't perform until he'd killed fifteen puppies...' Now me, kill fifteen puppies? I love puppies. I've got eighteen of the ******* things at home. I've killed a few cows in my time, mind you. And the chickens. I shot the chickens in my house that night. It haunts me, all this crazy stuff. Every day of my life has been an event. I took lethal combinations of booze and drugs for thirty ******* years. I survived a direct hit by a plane, suicidal overdoses, STDs. I've been accused of attempted murder. Then I almost died while riding over a bump on a quad bike at ******* two miles per hour. People ask me how come I'm still alive, and I don't know what to say. When I was growing up, if you'd have put me up against a wall with the other kids from my street and asked me...

R.I.P. Treadmill?

My running days are over for awhile...at least indoors...so sad!

I can't use my treadmill anymore because the belt (?) you run on has shifted drastically to the left side. Two minutes into my morning run, I noticed something underneath was unraveling! Damn it!!! I guess my run wasn't going to happen...

I noticed about a month ago, the belt had shifted a little to the left side. I still used it thinking it would be okay. Then I started noticing a weird smell. I figured it was nothing, just my imagination. Turns out, it wasn't. The belt had been rubbing a piece of the plastic and now has a slight indentation...oops!

I tried to pull the belt to the right, which of course, didn't work. It couldn't be that easy! I contemplated fixing it myself but got nervous. What if I starting taking things apart and can't put it back together...

Dad come fix my treadmill!!! How am I going to live with running outside?!?!?!

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

For those of you who are Twilight fans...I recommend this book.

It's a fast read (178 pages), I just wish Stephenie Meyer would continue with the Twilight Saga...

SYNOPSIS

Fans of The Twilight Saga will be enthralled by this riveting story of Bree Tanner, a character first introduced in Eclipse, and the darker side of the newborn vampire world she inhabits. In another irresistible combination of danger, mystery, and romance, Stephenie Meyer tells the devastating story of Bree and the newborn army as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion.

Learning to Breathe

Karen White is one of my new favorite authors. Her writing style is easy and enjoyable to read. Since I loved The Lost Hours so much I decided to read another one of her books...and I liked it more than the first.

SYNOPSIS

Brenna O'Brien doesn't believe in happy endings. Not since the love of her life, Pierce McGovern, left her years ago without a word. Now she leads a quiet life surrounded by her matchmaking sisters, running a historic movie theater and collecting old wartime letters. But she leaves the letters unopened, preferring to imagine their possibilities rather than risk being disappointed.

Then Pierce comes back to town, shattering Brenna's hard-earned peace-and forcing a reluctant Brenna to reexamine her life and question everything she has told herself to be true. It isn't until a box of hidden wartime letters is unearthed, and Brenna uncovers an ill-fated love story and a secret from her own past, that she realizes if she doesn't come to terms with the life she let slip away, she may never have the courage to go after the life she wants.

New music? Yes please.

When I'm home, I love watching VH1 Classic, Fuse and MTV Hits. I could watch these channels all day long.

A couple weeks ago, I was watching Fuse Hit List and I saw a music video that reminded me of Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I loved that book and for some reason, I really fell in love with a circus themed music video.

I didn't get the name of the band or song so I googled everything I could think of that was related to the video. I didn't find anything...

Then today, I noticed Fuse Hit List was on but was already a half an hour into the show. The first video that I saw was the video I had been looking for!!! SCORE!!!

After the Carney music video, a band I had heard of but wasn't too familiar with came on. I fell in love with this video too!

I love the old fashioned themes. I am definitely a new fan!

I heart Chico

A couple of months after graduating, I was walking around downtown Chico and saw this matte for $7. Since Chico is near and dear to my heart, I bought it. I decided to use photos of places that made me love Chico.

I: A photo of my condo in Chico. I loved this house and miss it everyday.

Heart: When driving to (or from) Chico along 505/5 (and along Chico River Road) in the springtime, I used to see fields of sunflowers. It's the one thing I looked forward to seeing on the long and boring drive.

C: My favorite beach spot at Bidwell. Kiersten and I would hike Yahi Trail every Sunday during the summer to layout, swim and read on the beach. I looked forward to those Sunday's.

H: The Sacramento River is a popular Chico spot. On hot days, everyone would float down the river and stop at Beer Can Beach. I have a lot of memories on this river. My favorite memory is the night float Kiersten, Ryan, Dave and I did.

I: Me on my graduation day in the Rose Garden on campus.

C: Downtown Chico is where all the craziness happens....Chestnut Street, Hazel Street, Ivy Street, Cherry Street, Orange Street (the streets spell out Chico).

O: My favorite bar. Madison Bear Garden a.k.a The Bear. The Bear is right next to campus and is fun every night of the week.

For the LOVE of Paper

Those of you who have seen my scrapbook supplies know that I am addicted to paper. And as a scrapbooker, you can NEVER have too much paper. I even love the smell of paper! A little weird, I know.

Lately, I have been trying to branch out with my paper and start using more COLOR. Since I usually wear dark colored clothes, I feel like my paper should match the photos. I am slowly starting to bring color into my life. But let's not get carried away, color is only being brought into my scrapbook pages, not my clothes!

I love Bo Bunny's new Spring 2010 collection Petal Pushers. It has lots of color splashed in with black. I'm taking baby steps...

The Carrie Diaries

My favorite part about the book...THE COVER!!! Who ever said "don't judge a book by its cover" is an idiot! I totally do!

I am a HUGE fan of the HBO series, Sex and the City. What girl isn't?!?! I never read Sex and the City by Candace Bushnell but I wanted to read The Carrie Diaries which recently came out. I've never read a Candace Bushnell book so I wasn't sure if I would like her as an author.

I finished The Carrie Diaries last night and it was OK (But I'm not gonna lie, I'm totally going to read the rest of The Carrie Diaries series as they come out). Throughout the entire book, I wanted to punch all of Carrie's friends in the face except The Mouse and Walt. You can read the synopsis below.

SYNOPSIS

Before Carrie Bradshaw hit the big time in the City, she was a regular girl growing up in the suburbs of Connecticut. How did she turn into one of the most-read social observers of our generation?

The Carrie Diaries opens up in Carrie's senior year of high school. She and her best friends -- Walt, Lali, Maggie, and the Mouse -- are inseparable, amid the sea of Jens, Jocks and Jets. And then Sebastian Kydd comes into the picture. Sebastian is a bad boy-older, intriguing, and unpredictable. Carrie falls into the relationship that she was always supposed to have in high school-until a friend's betrayal makes her question everything. With her high school days coming to a close, Carrie will realize it's finally time to go after everything she ever wanted.

Rabid fans of Sex and the City will love seeing Carrie Bradshaw evolve from a regular girl into a sharp, insightful writer. They'll learn about her family background -- how she found her writing voice, and the indelible impression her early friendships and relationships left on her. We'll see what brings Carrie to her beloved New York City, where the next Carrie Diaries book will take place.

Make Me Wanna Die

The Lost Hours

I recently read The Lost Hours by Karen White and I LOVED it! I definitely recommend this book!!!

SYNOPSIS

When Piper Mills was twelve, she helped her grandfather bury a box that belonged to her grandmother in the backyard. For twelve years, it remained untouched.

Now a near fatal riding accident has shattered Piper's dreams of Olympic glory. After her grandfather's death, she inherits the house and all its secrets, including a key to a room that doesn't exist—or does it? And after her grandmother is sent away to a nursing home, she remembers the box buried in the backyard. In it are torn pages from a scrapbook, a charm necklace—and a newspaper article from 1939 about the body of an infant found floating in the Savannah River. The necklace's charms tell the story of three friends during the 1930s— each charm added during the three months each friend had the necklace and recorded her life in the scrapbook. Piper always dismissed her grandmother as not having had a story to tell. And now, too late, Piper finds she might have been wrong.

Kelly Cutrone is a badass

For those of you who don't know who Kelly Cutrone is, she is an amazing business woman who started her own fashion public relations firm, People's Revolution which has represented huge fashion brands (Vivienne Westwood, Valentino, Bulgari, Longchamp, etc.). She also stars in Kell on Earth on Bravo and has written her first book (on the left).

The first time I ever heard of, or seen Kelly Cutrone, was on an episode of The Hills. I remember seeing her and thinking she's kind of bitchy. Then she started appearing on more episodes of The Hills and The City. The more I saw her, the more I liked her. Maybe it's because she isn't afraid of speaking her mind. I am definitely not afraid to speak my mind, and often times, it comes off as being bitchy.

When Bravo picked up her show, Kell on Earth, I was extremely excited. Every Monday, Kell on Earth was on my list of must-see shows. I never missed it!

I knew she had a book coming out and I knew I was going to read it. The day it came out, I made my trip to Barnes and Noble. That night I started reading it and finished it within days.

She is genius and gives great advice to women who are coming into the PR world. She challenges women to stop the pursuit of the "perfect life" and to discover who we are and what we really want.

I recommend this book to anyone who is just starting out in the workforce. She inspired me to go after what I want in a job and not be afraid to speak my mind while getting there.

"You find out who you are by figuring out who and what you are not" - Kelly Cutrone

What do you love about music? To begin with, everything...

I love everything about music. I don't like going a day without music and when I do, I'm eager to listen to it. Music makes me happy. I've been to 56 concerts in my lifetime and I plan on going to as many as life permits me too. I can NEVER attend too many concerts. Without music, life would be quiet and miserable.

Life After Graduation

The next step after graduation is to find a job. Well, easier said than done. I have been out of school for ten months and 21 days and have had four UNPAID internships. I have applied to numerous companies and I always hear the same thing..."We have reviewed the qualifications of each candidate and after careful consideration, we have determined that the credentials of other candidates may better fit our needs at this time. We will keep your resume on file and will contact you should another opportunity become available that better matches your skills and experience."

They are ENTRY LEVEL JOBS! How the F do you expect me to get experience and gain the skills I need to work at a PR firm if NO ONE will hire me?!?! I can't be working for free for the rest of my life!

I honestly don't know where to go from here. I'm seriously considering writing these companies who have told me I don't have the right experience and skills, and ask them what I should do. Are four internships not enough?!?!
